Keep an Eye Out for Tiny Little Signs Along the Road

picture of tiny sign

So you're driving down the road in Indian Trail.  Out of the corner of your eye you see a tiny little yellow or pink sign.  It's only 14 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide.  You probably don't think much of it.  Besides, you can't read even a single word on it from your moving vehicle anyhow.

I wonder what the little sign is about?

Well, if you park your car and get out and walk up to the little sign you get a big surprise!  As you can see in this picture, this tiny little sign is actually Indian Trail's way of informing its' citizens of a pending property REZONING Request.

Yes, a rezone request which can bring enormous, far reaching and permanent changes to a given parcel of land is posted with small print on small signs for all to see (or not see).  These signs are nothing more than laminated color paper.  They are not reflective so they are impossible to spot at all after dark.

It sure seems like the town doesn't want citizens to know about a Rezoning requests.  How else do you explain these tiny little signs?  The town's zoning ordinance requires the property be "posted", unfortunately it does not say the sign has to be "readable".
